Blue (BBS) Orpington Hatching Eggs

IMPORTANT ORDERING INFORMATION: Eggs are collected fresh on Mondays from our breeding flock and shipped on Tuesdays by USPS Priority Mail or FedEx. Hatching Eggs are labeled with breed code to help with ID during incubation. Eggs can be shipped year-round, but please use your own discretion when ordering during extreme weather. We guarantee that your eggs will arrive unbroken, but will not guarantee your hatching success because of the many variables with shipping, incubating, and hatching. Breakage must be reported upon arrival.

Blue (BBS) Orpington Eggs are brown in color. Orpingtons are a dual-purpose breed but are very often kept for their pet-like qualities. They are well known to be very calm, quiet, and affectionate. They are a slate blue color with dark lacing on their feathers. As a breed, they are loosely feathered and appear bigger than they actually are. Meyer Hatchery's Blue Orpingtons are the Engish strain. Read more about the Orpington breed over on our Breed Spotlight on the Meyer Hatchery Blog.

The color blue does not breed true. The chicks that you hatch from our blue flock can be blue, black, or splash. Read more about blue genetics in our Help Desk Article.
