Golden Layer Day Old Ducklings

IMPORTANT ORDERING DETAILS: Waterfowl have a minimum of 3 and you are able to mix and match among ducks and goose breeds to meet this minimum. Waterfowl will ship on Tuesday or Wednesday, USPS priority mail, and arrive 1-3 days later. Waterfowl are not able to be picked up as they are sent from our hatching partner.

The Golden Layer Duck is a high-producer of large, white eggs and is a great alternative to the Khaki Campbell for your backyard egg production. The Golden Layer Ducklings are easily sexable at hatch. Since this duck is a hybrid, subsequent hatches will not breed true and offspring will not be color sexable. Females will begin laying around 5-6 months of age. The Golden Layer can lay up to 290 large, white eggs per year and production drops around 8-10% each year. The only production difference between the golden and the white layer ducks is that the golden layers have a slightly higher percentage of laying blue or green eggs.

Female Golden Layer Ducks are varying shades of brown, from a light golden color to a very dark brown with a white patch on their neck. Males can look like a Rouen or similar to the darker variation of female but black instead of brown, or even like a dull-looking Cayuga. Golden Layers are generally calmer than the Khaki Campbells. As a hybrid, they are a vigorous breed with decreased morbidity and typically live longer than other breeds.
