Magpie Ducks originated in Britain and have some unknowns to their ancestry, but they have become one of the most popular duck breeds for their egg production and high-quality meat. Magpie Ducks are known to be active foragers and seek out bugs, seeds, slugs, and even snails. Magpies are considered a light breed of duck with a mature weight of 4 to 6 pounds. Magpie hens are not known for going broody, but they do make excellent mothers. Magpie hens have a cream to light green egg and their annual production is approximately 120 - 180 eggs.

In addition to the utility of the Magpie Ducks, they also make wonderful pets and are known to imprint on their keepers. Although not capable of sustained flight, they can easily fly over smaller obstacles, such as a 3-foot fence, if startled. Don’t miss your chance to add the great duck to your flock!
