The White Faced Whistling Duck, also known as the White-Faced Tree Duck, is a beautiful exotic duck native to the tropical regions of South and Central America and Africa. They enjoy freshwaters such as lakes, swamps, and rivers. They spend much of their daytime hours around the banks of their water source. White Faced Whistling Ducks are more active at night, which is the time they do their foraging for food. They are highly social and are a great addition to your ornamental collection.

White Faced Whistling Ducks enjoy a diet of aquatic tubers, seeds, plants as well as mollusks and other small aquatic organisms. Waterfowl feed and greens can be added as a supplement.

White Faced Whistling Ducks begin breeding at the start of their local rainy season. They will lay a clutch of 4-13 white eggs and incubation takes 26 to 28 days. Pairs will breed and lay up to 4 times per year. Both the males and females will help incubate the eggs.

Males and females of the White-Faced Whistling Ducks look the same. They have a long dark gray bill, white face, black head, and neck. Their body is a beautiful mix of reds, browns, and tans. Their feet and legs are blue-black. White-Face Whistling Ducks weight 1 to 2 pounds and males are slightly smaller than females. They are 14-18 inches long and will live 15+ years.
