This popular breed was developed over two thousand years ago in Rome. The Roman goose is credited with saving the Roman capitol by honking and waking Marcus Manlius during the siege by the Gauls in the fourth century BC. This lightweight goose variety has a good meat-to-bone ratio which makes for the perfect family dinner. Tufted Roman geese are known for their friendly personalities, quiet temperament and are great protectors. These rare, solid white geese with their white head crests are sure to make a great addition to your homestead.
Juveniles of this breed may have black or gray. By 21 weeks of age, they should be fully feathered with white feathers.
